Operations
The Operations (md_operation) view allows you to add, modify, copy, and delete the records in the operations table.
- The operations table stores processing functions that execute on behalf of a user.
The following list defines every field available in the operations (md_operations) table in alphabetical order:
- Created By - displays the name of the user who created the record you are viewing or maintaining. May not be overridden.
- Created On - displays the date on which the record that you are creating or maintaining was created. May not be overridden. May also represent the creation date of the records you are attempting to retrieve.
- Descriptions - an expression column that shows the operation's description in the session language.
- Description Literal Key - the literal key for the description.
- Modification Counter - this field is not maintainable. The date and time the record was last modified.
- Modified By - this field is not maintainable. The user or system process that last modified the record.
- Modified On - this field is not maintainable. The date on which the record was last modified.
- Operation Name - this field is maintainable in creation mode only, when it appears in the key subview. The unique identifier for a given operation record. The system ships with the following predefined operations:

Create |
Enable or disable the ability to create new records (i.e. access the Create action in certain resources). |
Customize |
Enable or disable the ability to personalize views. |
Delete |
Enable or disable the ability to delete records. |
Execute |
Enable or disable the ability to find accessible resources in the portal and to launch and access non-view-based resources (i.e. menus, EliteSeries Analytics reports, and any external URL). |
Export |
Enable or disable the ability to export records out of the database. |
Grant |
Enable or disable the ability for a user to grant permissions for the current resource to other users (roles). The user who has the Grant permission on a resource may grant only operations he/she already has. Users who have Create and Update permissions on the Role Permissions view (mostly UMS administrators) will have all rights on all resources). |
Maintain List |
Enable or disable the ability to maintain multiple records at once. Examples include:
- Use Update Fields to change multiple records;
- Use Edit with Excel to change multiple records; and,
- Delete multiple records.

Read |
Enable or disable the ability to perform searches and queries.
Views that are used for linking, embedding, lookups, hovering, description details, workflows, and so on, require this permission only; they do not need the Execute permission. When the Execute permission is not assigned, these views do not appear in portal searches. |
Update |
Enable or disable the ability to overwrite an existing record with new information and to update the database. |
- Operation Type - the operation type. The following options are available:
- Individual Operation (default)
- Set of Operations
