Box Types (PS09)

The Box Types panel in Maintain Packing Station Tables (PS09) identifies the Box Types used most frequently for packing in the Warehouse. The Box Type field is used in Packing Entry (PS30/Carton Details) and in Shipping Entry (PS41/Carton Details). The following list identifies every field on the Box Type screen:

• Box Type - a unique code is entered for each Box Type used in the Company. The Box Type can be a maximum of 15 alpha-numeric characters in length. This field is case sensitive and only accepts UPPER CASE characters.

• Description - a description of the Box Type. The description can be a maximum of 30 alpha-numeric characters in length.

• Active - the Active checkbox indicates whether a Box Type is active. When selected, the Box Type is active and is available in the Box Type query in PS41/Carton Details. In addition, Box Types that are Active display in the 'Default Box Type' query in Company Control Initialization (CC00/Packing Station).

• Length - the Length of the Box Type.

• Width - the Width of the Box Type.

• Height - the Height of the Box Type.

• Volume - the Volume is automatically calculated for the Box Type based on the dimensions entered.

• Maximum Weight - the maximum weight the Box Type can hold. If a Weight is entered in PS30/Carton Details, PS30/Carton Details/Carton Weights & Measurements or in PS41/Carton Details that is greater than the Maximum Weight for the Box Type, a warning message will display and the Shipper can accept the entered Weight, thereby overriding the Maximum Weight. Note: If a Weight of zero is entered for this Box Type, any weight is acceptable in PS30/PS41.

• Measuring Units - select the Unit of Measure for the Box Type. Valid options are Metric or US. The Measuring Units selected here only affect this screen. The Measuring Units used in PS30/PS41 are set in Maintain Sales Office/Warehouse Numbers (CC96).
