Notification Master
The Notification Master is a table (md_notification) in the User Management System (UMS). A notification is a message that is displayed to the user once they login or during a work session.
The Notification Bar is found at the same level on any PFiT menu window as the breadcrumbs toolbar:
There are two types of notifications:
In order to access the Notification Master view, your user ID requires the UMS Administrator role or as the. A system user is created when PFiT is installed at your site, and this user is set up to access the Notification Master view.
The following fields are available on the Notification Master and are based on the order in which they appear in the grid on the search results page:
- Instance Name - displays the name of the PFiT environment in which the active notification(s) are entered.
- Notification Name – displays the name assigned to the notification. The Notification Name is a unique key that identifies each notification.
- Role Name – displays the role name to which the notification is applies. The Role Name is validated against the role master table. You can edit this field as required.
- If a message is intended for all users, you can enter ums_user in this field as all users are assigned the ums_user role by default.
- Informational Display – displays the information or text that appears when you click on or hover over the Notification Preview icon . You can edit this field as required; you can enter a maximum of 255 characters.
- When you click on the Notification Preview icon, the My Notifications view opens. This view displays all active informational notifications for the user id currently logged into PFiT.
- Upon logging into PFiT, informational notifications can be seen in a "pop-up" window for a short period of time and then disappear. You can recall the informational display by hovering over the Notification Preview icon.
- Is Active – displays whether or not the notification is active. You can edit this field as required.
- Availability – displays whether or not the notification is available. A value of 'Yes' indicates that the notification is available to the user. A value of 'No' indicates that it is not. You cannot edit this field on the Search Results page.
- Note: The notification is available to the user when both the notification and the user share the same instance name, and when the notification is active/not expired.
- Expiry Date and Time – displays the date and time at which the notification expires. You can edit this field as required.

When you click on the View Record Details icon for a specific record on the Notification Search/Criteria Result page, the Notification Master Detail page opens for that record.
Warning: If you Personalize the Notification Master-Details page, you must include all of the required fields. If you do not include all of the required fields, you will not be able to save records in the Personalized view.
The following list defines every field on the Notification Master Details page:
- In the Main Context section, the Notification Name and Instance Name display as reference information for the detail record you are viewing.
- In the General Section:
- Role Name – displays the role name to which the notification applies. The Role Name is validated against the role master table. You can edit this field as required.
- If a message is intended for all users, you can enter ums_user in this field as all users are assigned the ums_user role by default.
- Informational Display – displays the information or text that appears when you click on or hover over the Notification Preview icon . You can edit this field as required; you can enter a maximum of 255 characters.
- When you click on the Notification Preview icon, the My Notifications view opens. This view displays all active informational notifications for the user id currently logged into PFiT.

- Prominent Display – displays the information or text associated with the prominent notification. The prominent notification displays in the Notification Bar at all times on all pages while the Notification is active. You can edit this field as required; you can enter a maximum of 255 characters.
- Mobile Prominent Display – displays the information or text associated with the prominent notification for mobile device users. The mobile prominent notification displays in the Notification Bar at all times on all pages while the Notification is active. You can edit this field as required; you can enter a maximum of 255 characters.
- Activated Time
– displays the date and time the notification is to be activated. The date is entered in YYYY-MM-DD format, and the time is entered in HH:MM:SS format. You can also select a date from the calendar lookup. Selecting a date from the calendar lookup automatically assigns the current time to the date selected. You can edit this field as required.
- Expiry Date and Time - dislays the Date and Time at which the notification message expires. The date is entered in YYYY-MM-DD format, and the time is entered in HH:MM:SS format. You can also select a date from the calendar lookup. Selecting a date from the calendar lookup automatically assigns the current time to the date selected. You can edit this field as required.
- Is Active - displays whether or not the notification is active. You can edit this field as required.
- Availability - displays whether or not the notification is available. A value of 'Yes' indicates that the notification is available to the user. A value of 'No' indicates that it is not. You cannot edit this field on the Details page.
- Note: The notification is available to the user when both the notification and the user share the same instance name, and when the notification is active/not expired.
- In the User and Date Stamps section:
- Created On – displays the date and time on which the the notification was created.
- Created By – displays the user name responsible for creating the notification.
- Modified On - displays the date and time on which the notification was last modified.
- Modified By - displays the user name responsible for the last modification of the notification message.
- Modification Counter - displays the number of times the notification has been modified.
