Microsoft Outlook/Vista and PointForce iTopia (PFiT) CRM Issue:
If you are running Windows Vista on your desktop, you may experience some issues with PFiT’s Microsoft Outlook icons.
- Outlook icons can be found on the search results page of views in the CRM module. For example, the Account Activity-Export to Outlook view includes the Outlook Task and Outlook Calendar icons.
- The 'Export to Outlook Task/Appointment/Contact' functionality works, i.e. if you have Vista and you perform any of the export to outlook actions, the appropriate information is passed from PFiT to your Outlook task, calendar or contact list.
- Once the export to outlook action is complete, the following icons are available in the search results section of the view:
|
- |
Launches the Outlook Task |
|
- |
Launches the Outlook Calendar entry |
|
- |
Launches the Outlook Contacts |
- When click on an Outlook icon, if may experience one of the following issues:
- If Outlook is not running on the desktop and you click the Outlook icon, the internet page will fail and you will see a 'Forbidden to view data' server error. In this case, the user's permissions to access Outlook have been denied.
- If Outlook is running on the desktop and you click on the Outlook icon, the following message will display: "Outlook: item not found". In this case, the user's permissions to access Outlook are being denied by Vista or by Outlook in Vista.
This situation does not arise in a Windows 7 environment.
Fortunately, these permission 'errors' do not stop the flow of data from PFiT to Outlook. Unfortunately, as long as you are running Vista on your desktop, you will be inconvenienced by the fact that the icon functionality fails. You must manually go into your Outlook task, calendar or contact list to see the data from PFiT.
