Group and Individual Resources

It is important to know whether a resource is a Group Resource or an Individual Resource when assigning permissions (operations) to the resource.

  • Individual Resource – an Individual Resource is a single view created by any user.

  • Group Resource – Group Resources are indicated by a folder icon on the iTopia menu system. Group Resources can contain both other Group Resources and/or Individual Resources.

Group Resources only require the 'execute' operation so that the user can open the group. Individual Resources require at least the 'execute' and 'read' operations to allow the user to open the Resource and view the contents. Individual Resources can also be assigned any of the other valid operations.
