Class of Trade (SU09)
The Class of Trade (SU09) codes are defined in SU09 and are assigned to Customers or Prospects in Customer Master (SU13). You can also assign Class of Trade (SU09) codes to Leads in the Lead Master-Complete Entry and Lead Master-Quick Entry views.
The Class of Trade (COT) codes categorize Customers into various industry/market types, for example Wholesale, Manufacturing, major Department Store chains, and Independent Retail. This enables Customers to be reviewed and reports to be printed in Class of Trade/Customer sequence.
Note: Special processing is triggered when the following COT codes are used:
- CSH - assigned to the Cash Sale account used when processing transactions via Enter Cash Counter Invoices (RS41).
- STO - assigned to the Customer Master record (SU13) defined for each location (Store or Warehouse) and is used to facilitate stock transfers via the Direct Inventory Transfer method in Enter Orders/Quotes OE30.
- WHS - assigned to the Customer Master record (SU13) defined for each location (Store or Warehouse) and is used to facilitate stock transfers via the In-Transit Inventory Transfer method in OE30.
Note: The ability to create and update information in Class of Trade (SU09) is controlled by the permissions (create, read, update and delete) assigned to the resource within the role. The following fields are available on the Class of Trade (SU09) view and are based on the order in which they appear in the grid on the search page:
- Company Number - every record in the PointForce iTopia SQL database includes the Company Number. When reviewing the results from your search, the Company Number will display for all Customer records. Note: You cannot modify the Company Number field in the grid.
- Class of Trade - displays the Class of Trade code. This code can be a maximum of 3 alpha numeric characters in length. You cannot modify this field in the grid.
- Class of Trade Name
- displays the Name associated with the COT code. You can edit the information in the grid by double clicking on the appropriate cell. Once you make the changes, click on the check mark to update the information or you can click on the 'x' to cancel the change request. The COT Name can be a maximum of 20 alpha numeric characters in length.
- The COT Name prints as a report sub-heading whenever an Accounts Receivable or Sales Analysis report is printed in COT sequence.

Class of Trade (SU09) - Details Page
When you click on the View Record Details icon for a specific record on the Class of Trade (SU09) Search Results/Grid page, the Class of Trade Detail page opens for that record.
The following list defines every field in the Details page:
- In the Main Context section, the Company Number and Class of Trade code display as reference information for the detail record you are viewing.
- In the General section:
- Class of Trade Name - displays the Name associated with the COT Code. The Name can be a maximum of 20 alpha numeric characters in length. The COT Name prints as a report sub-heading whenever an Accounts Receivable or Sales Analysis report is printed in COT sequence.
- You can edit the information in this field for all COT codes, including the predefined codes (CSH, STO and WHS).
- In the Reference Information section:
- Creator - displays the user id of the user logged into the system when the COT Code was created.
- Time Created - displays the date and time at which the COT Code was created.
- Modifier - displays the user id of the user logged into the system when this COT Code was last updated.
- Last Change - displays the date and time at which the COT Code was last updated.
