Restricted Commodities (SU23)

The Restricted Commodities (SU23) view allows you to restrict a product line and product group (commodity) for specific customers. You must have the e-Commerce module activated in PointForce Enterprise (PFE), in order to set up commodity restrictions as these restrictions apply only to your e-Commerce web site. Customers with commodity restrictions cannot add the products associated with the restricted commodities to their shopping carts.

There is a relationship between Restricted Commodities (SU23) and Contact References (EC31/Customer Accounts):

• The commodity restriction/customer relationship is set up in SU23.

• In EC31/Customer Accounts, a relationship between the contact and the account (customer) is set up. A contact can be associated with multiple accounts. For each contact/account record, there is a 'Restricted Products Apply' flag.

• In order for the commodity restrictions to apply to the contact, the 'Restricted Products Apply' flag in EC31 must be set.

Note: You cannot edit the Company Number, Customer Code, Product Line, Product Line Description, Product Group or Product Group Description information on either the Search Criteria/Grid page or on the Details page. If a record was created in error or the Commodity Restriction has changed for the Customer, you must delete the record and create a new one.

The following fields are available on the Restricted Commodities view and are based on the order in which they appear in the search results grid page:

• Company Number - every record in the PointForce iTopia SQL database includes the Company Number. When reviewing the results from your search, the Company Number will display for all records.

• Customer Code - displays the Customer Code associated with the record.

• Product Line - displays the Product Line for which the restriction is set up.

• Product Line Description - displays the description associated with the Product Line from Maintain Inventory Tables (IM09/Commodity Codes).

• Product Group - displays the Product Group for which the restriction is set up.

• Product Group Description - displays the description associated with the Product Group from IM09/Commodity Codes.

• Customer Selectable - this field is currently available for future custom use. You can also use this field for 'self defined' purposes. Valid options include:
  • Yes
  • No
