Work Order Products
Products defined as Work Order (WO) products represent the 'finished goods' in the Work Order system. In Maintain Work Order (WO13), some manufacturing is required to produce the finished goods. All of the items required to produce the finished goods are defined in WO13, including the components, associated quantity configurations, labour or other charges, and the build instructions.
If, for example, we produce a finished good, Pine Scented Car Fresheners, through the production process then only the finished product is given the Type WO in Maintain Inventory Master (IM13). IM13 has a Product Code CARPINE with a WO product Type.
Here is an example of how a Work Order product is created:
- Pine Scented Car Fresheners:
- Product Code = CARPINE
- Product Type = WO
- Components:
- 1 Sheet of absorbent cardstock (cut/pressed into 25 individual pine shapes during the process)
- 25 ml of Pine Scented Perfume
- 25 sections of string, each 24 cm long
- 25 plastic wrappers
- 25 product labels
Each of the component products are set up with a unique Product Code in IM13 and a Product Type of PP (Purchase Product), WO (Work Order) or AI (Assortment Item).
