UPC Codes

UPC codes are validated by Enterprise, therefore only actual UPC codes can be entered. In addition, a Password is required when UPC codes are added to, automatically generated for and deleted from a Product in IM13. Passwords for IM13 are set up in Maintain Override Passwords (CC04). Here are the steps to follow when adding, generating and deleting UPC codes:

Adding/Generating a UPC Code for a Product:

  1. Enter a valid UPC code into the UPC field. Since these codes are validated, you must enter an actual UPC code or press GEN to automatically create a valid code.

  2. When you click GEN to automatically create a valid UPC code, you are prompted to enter a Password. Enter the appropriate Password for IM13. If you have any difficulty with the Password, contact your system administrator.

  3. Once the Password is entered, the UPC code automatically displays.

  4. Click Update to update the IM13 record for this Product.

Adding an Existing UPC Code to another Product:

  1. The same UPC Code can be applied to more than one Product. In the UPC field, enter the UPC code.

  2. Click Update to update the IM13 record for this Product.

  3. Enter the appropriate Password for IM13 on the Password screen. If you have any difficulty with the Password, contact your system administrator.

  4. A warning message displays the following message: "WARNING! This UPC Code Already Used for Product(s) xxxxxx. Assign Anyway? YES/NO?".
    • Clicking Yes assigns the UPC Code to the Product and prompts you for a Password.
    • Clicking No returns you to the UPC field and does not assign a code.

  5. Once you enter the appropriate Password for IM13, click Update to update the IM13 record for this Product.

Deleting a UPC Code:

  1. Highlight the code in the UPC field.

  2. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

  3. Enter the appropriate Password for IM13 on the Password screen. If you have any difficulty with the Password, contact your system administrator.

  4. Click Update to update the IM13 record for this Product.
