Search Words/Index Diag (EC71)

The Search Word/Indexes Diagnostic (EC71) program is used to regenerate search words and search word indexes. You can run this diagnostic as often as required. It can take several minutes to run to completion, depending on the number of inventory items and search words/indexes in the system.

• EC71 regenerates the search words for all product descriptions and optional attributes from Company Control Initialization (CC00/Evolve E-Commerce) 'Desc Sec. Lang' and from CC00/Evolve E-Commerce 'Search Word Options' list. Once EC71 completes its regeneration of Search Words, the list of words in EC13/Search Words is replaced. Note: EC71 only affects system generated search words.

• EC71 also regenerates search indexes. When you create a product in Maintain Inventory Master (IM13), the search words for the product are created automatically. However, search indexes can only be updated for products once a relationship is set up in Product Publishing (EC13/Categories). Once EC13/Categories is set up for the product(s), you can update the search indexes using one of the following methods:
  • Run the 'Update Search Indexes' option in EC13/Categories
    or
  • Run the 'Regenerate Search Indexes' option in EC71

• EC71 is also used when you import data through Import File Mapping (CC83). You may import files that contain products and/or files that contain the category relationships for these products. EC71 is designed to allow you to update the search words and search indexes using one program, i.e. you do not have to update IM13 for each product in order to update the Search Words and you also do not have to go into EC13/Categories for each product and run the 'Update Search Indexes' option to update the Search Indexes.

The following list defines every field on EC71:

• Last Run Date - displays the date on which EC71 was last run for Search Words and for Search Indexes. This field is for information purposes only and cannot be edited.

• Present Status - displays the current status of EC71 for Search Words and for Search Indexes. The most common status displayed in this field is 'Complete'.

• Check for multi-level circular category references - select this check box to uncover any program loop conditions that may cause your web site to crash. This option can slow down the 'Regenerate Search Indexes' routine. However, we recommend that you use this option periodically to validate the integrity of your category hierarchy. Use Category Relations (EC11/Products) to correct any circular reference reported by EC71, and then re-run EC71 once the condition is corrected.
