Maintain Store Locations - Categories (EC24)

• Category numbers are automatically generated.

• Only categories that are flagged as active can be selected in EC06.

• Categories that are used in EC06 cannot be deleted in EC24.

• Once a category has been deleted, the category number is recycled and will be used for the next new category.

• If a category description is similar to an existing description, the following message displays: "Please be aware that there are existing categories with a similar description: xxxxxx – EXISTING DESCRIPTION. OK". This is to help reduce the possibility of creating duplicate categories.

The following list defines every field on EC24:

• Category – a numeric code that is automatically generated by the system. You cannot edit this field. You can use the query to select a category that already exists.

• Active – select this check box to activate the category. When this check box is not selected, the category is inactive.

• Description – enter a description of the category up to a maximum of 30 alpha numeric characters in length.

The following table outlines the functionality of each button in EC45:

Clear		Clears all of the fields and allows you to create a new category.
