Evolve Cookie ID's (CC00)
The CC00/Evolve E-Commerce\Cookie ID's folder defines the specific information used when Cookies are created by your E-Commerce Web server. Cookies are pieces of information generated by a Web server and stored in the "user's" computer, ready for future access. For example, cookies are used to personalize Web search engines and to store shopping lists of items selected while browsing through an Online catalog.
The following list defines each of the fields on the Cookie ID folder:
- Machine ID - the ID of your machine that is added to the Cookie generated by the Web server. This is a unique value used with the 'Session ID' to communicate the session state between remote Web users and the E-Commerce Web application. Your Pointforce Enterprise Business Consultant will configure this field for you.
- Session ID - this is also a unique value used with the 'Machine ID' to communicate the session state between remote Web users and the E-Commerce Web application. Your Pointforce Enterprise Business Consultant will configure this field for you.
- Session Expiration - this field is set up by your Pointforce Enterprise Business Consultant. This field contains the number of minutes (for example, 60 minutes) that your browser can remain unused after which time, the session will expire.
Clicking Generate automatically provides this information from your PC. If you attempt to Generate this information a second (or additional) time, the following message displays: "Changing the Cookie ID codes must only be done while the EC system is shutdown. Also, changing Cookie IDs will orphan existing client side cookies until their expiry date. Do you really want to re-generate Cookie IDs? Yes/No". Selecting 'Yes' generates new Cookie IDs. Selecting 'No' cancels the Generate request and closes the message window.
