Troubleshooting OE61

Here are a number of issues you may come across when running OE61:

  • There are times when OE61 is not available. How can I ensure that OE61 is always available at my site?
    There are two scenarios that exist when OE61 is not available in Enterprise:

    1. If you have the 'Back Order Control Method' in Company Control Initialization (CC00/Order Entry) set to 'External', OE61 is not available and the following message displays when you attempt to open OE61: "Backorder control method MUST be set to Internal! OK".

    2. If you are using Order Management, then OE61 is not available. The following message displays when you attempt to open OE61: "Order Management is active. Releasing backorders is incorporated into the stock allocation of Order Management. OK".

  • When I run OE61, my back ordered lines are NOT being released as they should be!
    There is one occasion where back ordered lines from a Sales Order are not released: when the Sales Order includes one or more lines that are linked to a Purchase Order (PO) through OE30 or PO40 and the Sales Order also includes one or more back ordered lines. Follow these steps to release the back ordered lines on the Sales Order:

    1. "Unlink" the PO from the Sales Order in PO40.

    2. Run OE61 to release the back order lines for Products that now have stock.

    3. When the Sales Order has been process by OE61, relink the PO to the Sales Order using PO40.
