Troubleshooting the Carton Details folder (PS41)

Here are a number of common issues:

  • The Pallet ID (Print) button is disabled.
The Print Option is associated with the Operator ID logged into Enterprise. If the Pallet ID (Print) button remains unavailable or 'greyed' out, the Operator ID has not been granted access to print this label in PS11. Please see your System Administrator to modify PS11.

  • I have my Scale set up in Maintain Operator Controls (PS11), but when I click Get Weight, nothing happens.
There are a number of items you can check to identify why the Weight is not being retrieved:
    • Ensure that the Scale is turned on.
    • Ensure that the Scale is connected to your local computer.
    • Verify that the Scale is communicating with the Port specified in PS11.

  • When I use the Scale, I get the most cryptic messages!
You are quite right, the error messages displayed when the Scale cannot interpret the Weight are not easy to understand. Unfortunately, these messages cannot be altered. The 3 most common causes of Scale error are:
    • The package(s) on the Scale has moved or swayed.
    • The package(s) on the Scale is over 150lb or 68.04kg.
    • The Scale is not set to zero when the package(s) is placed on it.
One of the following messages displays in these cases:
    • "The scale returned the following error codes: Not at centre of zero - Under zero - Scale Motion. Correct the problems and try again."
    • "The scale returned the following error codes: Not at centre of zero. Outside zero capture range. Over capacity. Scale in motion. Correct the problem(s) and try again."
    • "Zero weight returned! If the carton is already on the scale, then remove it, set the scale to zero and put the carton back on to re-weigh it."

  • I am having a 'Warehouse' issue when I try to open a Packing Number/Shipment Number
When a Shipper enters a Packing Number in the Packing No. field that has Sales Order(s) associated with a Warehouse that the Shipper does not have access to, the following message displays: "The Shipper SHIPPERID does not have access to warehouses assigned on orders of Packing No. XXXX. OK". Click OK to close the message. You must update the 'Warehouse' field in PS09/Shipper ID in order to allow this Shipper access to the Packing Number.

The same holds true for the Shipment Number. When a Shipper enters a Shipment Number in the Shipment No. field that has Sales Order(s) associated with a Warehouse that the Shipper does not have access to, the following message displays: "The Shipper SHIPPERID does not have access to warehouses assigned on orders of Shipment No. ####. OK". Click OK to close the message and update the 'Warehouse' field in PS09/Shipper ID to include the Warehouse associated with the Sales Order(s).

  • I need to re-open my Shipment, but Invoices have been generated already.
For steps to open a Closed Shipment, see Recalling a Closed Shipment. Be sure to read the section for Company's with the auto-generate Invoice feature. If you are using PS41 with TMS, then see Recalling a Closed Shipment with TMS.

  • I added a Packing Number in error. Now I want to delete the Pack, do I just click Delete Pack?
That is the first part of the delete transaction. If the Shipment has Freight associated with it, you must verify the Freight is still allocated appropriately in the Shipment on the Freight folder. If Cartons for the Pack are assigned to a Pallet, you'll have to verify the Pallet measurements are still accurate on the Pallet Details folder.

  • The Tracking No. field isn't available.
If Tracking Numbers are entered in the 'Tracking No.' field on the Ship folder in PS41 OR if TMS is in use with PS41, then the Tracking No. field on the Carton Details folder is unavailable.
