IM64 Header Record

The Maintain Unit Demand History (IM64) header record can be used to adjust the 24 months of regular and flyer demand unit history by warehouse/product. As a by-product of entering new orders, demand unit history is updated. This history is used by the Purchasing system to create suggested purchase orders. This maintenance is typically not required unless an unusual sales transaction occurs that causes a spike or dip for a particular month.

  • For example, booked sales for a particular item is normally 50 - 100 units for any given month. One month a customer wants to use up their budget so they buy 200 units of this particular item. This should not be reflected for future forecasting. The amount can be changed using this program to reflect what would normally be sold, i.e. to smooth out the spikes or dips.

  • The program allows you to maintain two sets of demand history: Regular demand and Flyer demand.

  • Regular demand represents the total demand for a product in any given month, including sales resulting from flyers.

  • Flyer demand represents the flyer portion only of the total demand for a product.

The following list defines every field in the header section:

  • Warehouse - enter or select from the query a Warehouse code. Once a valid Warehouse is entered, the Warehouse name displays to the right of this field. This field specifies the warehouse for which you want to review/modify the Unit Demand History.

  • Product Code - enter or select from the query a Product Code. Once a valid code is entered, the Product Name displays to the right of this field. This field identifies the product code for which you want to review/modify the Unit Demand History in the current warehouse.

  • Stock Flag - displays the Stock Type for the current product. The Stock Flag is maintained in Maintain Inventory Master (IM13/Stock). This field is for display purposes only and cannot be edited.

  • The Regular section represents the total demand for a product in any given month, including sales resulting from flyers.

If you need to modify the Unit Demand History for 'this month', depending on the status of your Sales Fiscal Period, you will need to change the value of either the Current Period or the Next Period field. The Order Entry, Invoicing and Retail Sales systems, which capture the unit demand history, will update the Current sales fiscal period up to and including the last day of the period. From the first day of the next period, until the Close Sales Fiscal Period (SA89) program closes the just completed current period, those systems will update the Next sales fiscal period.

    • Curr. Per - the Current Period field contains the Regular Unit Demand for the Current period to date. If you want to update the demand for 'this period' keep in mind that the current remains open until SA89 is run; if the current period has ended, but has not been closed, then "this period's" demand is being collected as the Next period.

    • Yr to Date - the Year to Date field displays the number of units sold from regular sales from the beginning of the year to the current month.

    • Next Per - when the current Sales Fiscal Period has ended, but has not yet been closed by SA89, the Next Period field will contain the Regular Unit Demand for the new period that has already started.

    • Last Yr - the Last Year field displays the number of units sold from regular sales last year.

  • The Flyers section represents the flyer portion only of the total demand for a product.

If you need to modify the Flyer Unit Demand History for 'this month', depending on the status of your Sales Fiscal Period, you will need to change the value of either the Current Period or the Next Period field. The Order Entry, Invoicing and Retail Sales systems, which capture the unit demand history, will update the Current sales fiscal period up to and including the last day of the period. From the first day of the next period, until the Close Sales Fiscal Period program closes the just completed current period, those systems will update the Next sales fiscal period.

    • Curr. Per. - the Current Period field contains the Flyer Unit Demand for the Current period to date. If you want to update the demand for 'this period' keep in mind that the current remains open until SA89 is run; if the current period has ended, but has not been closed, then "this period's" demand is being collected as the Next period.

    • Yr to Date - the Year to Date field displays the number of units sold from flyer sales from the beginning of the year to the current month.

    • Next Per. - when the current Sales Fiscal Period has ended, but has not yet been closed by SA89, the Next Period field will contain the Flyer Unit Demand for the new period that has already started.

    • Last Year - The Last Year field displays the number of units sold from flyer sales last year.
