Troubleshooting PFE-Elite WMS Interface

This topic provides a detailed explanation of the UOM/GTIN/product dimension information that is sent between PointForce Enterprise (PFE) and EliteSeries WMS. This topic identifies the programs that utilize this feature of the PFE/Elite WMS interface and provides an overview of the "rules" in place in IM23.

  1. Set up CC00/Warehouse Management Interface:

The Transfer UOM GTINs field allows you to indicate whether or not GTIN dimensions and weight are transferred to the UOM fields in the EliteSeries WMS Item Master. The following options are available:

    • Never – dimensions and weights are never transferred to the UOM fields in the Elite WMS Item Master. Note: When this option is selected, the UOM1 field in EliteSeries WMS is populated with the stock unit from IM13 and the UOM dimension fields are blank. Elite WMS controls the package dimensions.

    • UOM GTIN QTY + Measurements - the UOM designation, GTIN, and associated dimensions and weight are transferred to the corresponding UOM, GTIN, etc. fields in the Elite WMS Item Master. Note: Dimensions are required for GTINs flagged with a UOM.

  2. Impact on IM23:

This section outlines the impact of the CC00 'Transfer UOM GTIN' settings on the product GTIN records within the PFE/Elite WMS interface.

    1. When CC00/WM is set up in the following manner:
      'Transfer UOM GTINs' = Never
'Transfer SKUs GTIN from' = Default SKU Record

In IM23, GTINs are only sent to WMS if the 'Transfer to WMS' flag is selected.

      • The GTIN flagged as 'Default SKU' is sent to pm_f; all other GTINs (flagged as transfer to WMS) are sent to al_f.

      • No dimensions are sent to WMS.

      • The WMS UOM drop list is unavailable.

If there is a PO, sales order or inventory for the product in the WMS warehouse or the WMS hold warehouse, you cannot change the stock unit value in IM13. If you do, the following message displays: "You may not change the Stock Unit if there is a WMS-controlled warehouse with quantity on hand or with active Sales Orders or Purchase Orders. The following warehouses have activity and therefore the Stock Unit may not be changed: Wx,Wy. OK".

    2. When CC00/WM is set up in the following manner:
      'Transfer UOM GTINs' = Never
'Transfer SKUs GTIN from' = Default Costing Record

In IM23, GTINs are only sent to WMS if the 'Transfer to WMS' flag is selected.

      • The GTIN flagged as 'Default Costing' is sent to pm_f; all other GTINs (flagged as transfer to WMS) are sent to al_f.

      • No dimensions are sent to WMS.

      • The WMS UOM drop list is unavailable.

    3. When CC00/WM is set up in the following manner:
'Transfer UOM GTINs’ = UOM GTIN Qty + Measurments

Note: The Measuring Units sent to Elite WMS (pm_f) are based on the measuring units entered in CC96 for the WMS warehouse and not the measuring units set in IM23.

Note: If you have multiple warehouses, the 'Transfer to UOM GTINs' option should be set to the same value for all warehouses. However, if some of the WMS warehouses are set to 'UOM GTIN Qty + Measurement' and others are set to 'Never', the 'UOM GTIN Qty + Measurement' option will be used for all WMS warehouses, and up to 4 UOMs will be transferred. Note: If Elite WMS 9.1 or higher are the only WMS warehouses set up in CC00/WMS, then up to 6 UOMs will be transferred between Elite WMS and PFE.

      1. Assigning a WMS UOM to the product record (do we want to say IM23 record?):

The WMS UOM drop list is available when the 'Transfer to WMS' flag is selected for the GTIN record in IM23. Select a UOM value for the GTIN record.

        • You must assign UOMs in a sequential order, i.e. the first UOM must be 1 followed by 2, and so on. If you enter a UOM that is not in sequence, the following message displays: "The product is missing UOMx. There may not be gaps in the UOM assignments. OK".

        • You cannot assign the same UOM to a product more than once. For example, if you assign UOM1 to a product and then attempt to assign UOM1 to another GTIN for the same product, you will receive an error message.

        • When a WMS UOM is assigned to a product GTIN record, the GTIN Description field becomes mandatory. Note: You can enter a maximum of 30 characters in this field, however only the first 5 characters are sent to WMS (via pm_f).

        • You must enter all dimensions (inner quantity, weight, length, length, length and height) for the GTIN. If any dimensions are missing, the following message displays: "You have a WMS warehouse that requires weights and dimensions. OK".

      2. In the GTIN list box, the 'Flag' field indicates the GTIN UOM assignment. For example, there are two GTINs for the product below in IM23:

      3. When you select UOM 1, the SKU/Inner quantity must be 1. If you enter any other quantity in this field, the following message displays: "The Inner Qty and SKU Qty must be 1 for WMS UOM 1. OK".

      4. The SKU quantity must increase for each consecutive UOM. If you enter a SKU quantity that is the same or less than the previous UOM, the following message displays: "The SKU Qty for the UOMs 1-4 must increase as the UOM goes up. OK".

      5. Once a UOM is assigned to a GTIN, the 'Transfer to WMS' flag cannot be deselected until the UOM is removed from the record.

      6. Weights and dimensions are not validated in PFE, however Elite WMS does verify that weights and dimensions increase for each UOM. If a GTIN is sent to WMS (pm_f) with weights and measurements less than the previous UOM, the record will error in Elite WMS. The error needs to be deleted from the WMS Queue Message view. The GTIN must be changed in PFE and then resent to Elite WMS.

Here is an example of the error condition in WMS Queue Message:

      1. PFE allows the same GTIN to be entered on multiple products, however Elite WMS does not support this functionality. PFE will issue a warning message that you can accept and continue. In Elite WMS, an error will occur; the error needs to be deleted from the WMS Queue Message view. The GTIN must be changed in PFE and then resent to Elite WMS.

Here is an example of the error condition in WMS Queue Message:

      1. If the same GTIN Description is entered for multiple UOM records in PFE, the record will error in Elite WMS. The error needs to be deleted from the WMS Queue Message view. The GTIN must be changed in PFE and then resent to Elite WMS.

Here is an example of the error condition in WMS Queue Message:

      1. In PO13, when a product is assigned to a secondary supplier and the primary supplier has GTINs assigned, the UOM information (if applicable) is not copied.

        • The following message displays: "Product ABC not set up for this supplier. Defaults from SUPPLIERA. Do you wish to copy all the Pack Information from SUPPLIERA? Yes/No". If you select Yes, the UOMs assigned to the GTINs from the primary supplier will not be copied.

      2. If the product has inventory in the WMS or WMS hold warehouse, you cannot perform the following actions:

        • Delete the GTIN record.
        • Modify the following fields: GTIN Description, WMS UOM or Inner Quantity.
        • Add additional GTINs with UOMs assigned.

Note: You can modify weights and dimensions.

      3. If the product has no inventory in the WMS or WMS hold warehouse, but POs, RMAs or sales orders exist for the product in the WMS warehouse, you cannot perform the following actions:

        • Delete the GTIN record.
        • Modify the following fields: GTIN Description, WMS UOM or Inner Quantity.
        • Add additional GTINs with UOMs assigned.

Note: You can modify weights and dimensions.

  3. Disqualification Message in PO16:

If a supplier/product record has a GTIN(s) with a UOM(s), the record cannot be deleted by PO16. The following message displays on the Delete Inactive Product/Supplier (PO16) list: "Cannot Delete, POGTIN/WMS/UOM". You must remove the UOM(s) from the PO13 GTIN(s) before the record can be deleted.
