User Licenses

Additional Information
How To Set up New Users

The User Licenses is a table (md_user_license) in the User Management System (UMS). This table defines the databases that the user can access. Licenses also define the rights each user has to the databases.

The license types full and read_only are exclusive. The system will prevent assigning both license types to a user.

Note: You cannot modify information on the view. You must delete the record and then create a new record with the correct database/license information.

The following list defines every field available in the user licenses (md_user_license) table in alphabetical order:

  • Created By - displays the name of the user who created the record you are viewing or maintaining. May not be overridden.

  • Created On - displays the date on which the record that you are creating or maintaining was created. May not be overridden. May also represent the creation date of the records you are attempting to retrieve.

  • Database Name - the database associated with the user. The following database options are valid with PointForce iTopia:

    • iBIS (the iTopia database)
    • meta

  • License Type Name - the license types are associated with the databases for each user. The following license types are available:

    • full - unlimited access to a particular view, subject to the security imposed by the system administrator at the role/user level.

    • read_only - limited access to Enterprise views. This license type is assigned to users that only need to make enquires into the Enterprise data (i.e. users with read-only access cannot create update or delete records in any view).

    • web_services - provides the user the ability to make web service requests from a third party application, such as Excel. Within PointForce iTopia, this option allows users to use the 'Edit with Excel' feature.

Note: The license types full and read_only are exclusive. The system will prevent assigning both license types to a user.

  • User Name - the user's name.
