Master Files Diagnostics (IM71)

Additional Information
Diagnostics Programs

The Master File Diagnostic (IM71) program is designed to ensure that the inventory cross-reference files have a one-to-one relationship with the inventory master file. Missing records are created wherever necessary.

  • In addition, the diagnostics program reads the opening balance of each inventory item and then cycles through its movement file to obtain a closing balance. The program then compares this closing balance to that on file.

  • Any out of balance conditions detected by the diagnostics program are repaired and reported on the Master File Diagnostics Report (IM72).

  • Note: Before you can run the IM71 for the current run, you must print and accept the Master File Diagnostic Report (IM72) from all previous runs.

We recommend that the diagnostics program be run and printed and then re-run and printed. Any items that appear on the second print report should be reported to the PointForce Enterprise Support Department for correction since this would indicate that a problem exists that the diagnostic cannot resolve.

Note: Once the diagnostic program has been started, you can stop the process without causing any adverse effects by pressing the ESC key. After cancelling, you may still be required to print and accept the IM72.

The following list defines every fields on IM71:

  • Date the Diagnostic was Last Run - the date on which IM71 was last started displays in this field. This field is for display purposes only and cannot be modified.

  • Run Time in Hours - displays the time that was required to run the diagnostic. This field is for display purposes only and cannot be edited.

  • Diagnostic Completed - when selected, this check box indicates that the last time IM71 was run, the diagnostic ran to completion.

The following table outlines the functionality of each button in IM71:
