Inventory Aging Period (IM09)

The Inventory Aging Group defined in IM09 is used to create codes that represent the inventory aging analysis structure as defined by the inventory aging periods which are used to age your inventory.

  • The Inventory Aging Group is used in conjunction with the Inventory Aging Period (IM09/Inventory Aging Period) program which assigns the periods to each analysis group code defined here.

  • These two programs are then utilized by Generate Inventory Table (IC61). IC61 ages your inventory based on the periods defined in IM09 and the output is available in view format in PointForce iTopia (IC61). In iTopia, you have several views available to you that represent your aged inventory.

The following list identifies every field on the Inventory Aging Group folder:

  • Inventory Aging Group Code - enter or select from the query an inventory aging group code. The code can be a maximum of 6 alpha numeric characters in length.

  • Description - enter a description of the Inventory Aging Group Code. The description can be a maximum of 35 alpha numeric characters in length. TIP: The description should represent what the Inventory Aging Group Code does, for example you may want to enter '30/60/90 and older', 'Quarterly and older' or 'Monthly for 3 years'.

  • ZZ Period Description - this field represents the period that falls outside of the Aging Periods defined in the Inventory Aging Period program (IM09/Inventory Aging Period). Here is an example to illustrate this concept:

    • You set up an Inventory Aging Group Code of 'HDGIFT' that is defined to age inventory over 30, 60, and 90 days.
    • Inventory that is greater than 90 days old falls into the period beyond this definition.
    • We have called this period the ZZ Period. Inventory that is greater than 90 days old will fall into this ZZ Period. In this example, we will give the ZZ Period a description of 'Greater than 91+'.

The ZZ Period Description can be a maximum of 35 alpha numeric characters in length.

  • Revision Number - this field is for display purposes only. The revision number is generated once an Inventory Aging Group record in IM09/Inventory Aging Period is updated using the Revision Update button. For more information on IM09/Inventory Aging Period, click here.
