Execute Product Recode/Merge (RM82)

The Execute Product Re-Code & Merge (RM82) program recodes/merges Products previously entered in Enter Products for Recode/Merge (RM81) into a single Product code. The Product information, including history, is merged into the new Product record. Once started, this program must run to completion.

Note: If you merge products that are used in the e-Commerce module, the e-Commerce data will be deleted. Specifically, the you will lose the data from the following programs:
1. Product Publishing (EC13)
2. Category Relations (EC11/Products)

Caution: This program should be run ALONE. Files throughout the system are affected.

Using RM82:

1. The Test option allows you to start the execution of the program but will not update any files. As Product records are found, a Verification Selection screen automatically opens:

   • Select option 1 to continue verifying each Product recode/merge transaction as it comes up and click OK.
     OR
     
   • Select option 2 to continue verifying the file without stopping at the Verification Selection screen and click OK.
     OR
     
   • Select option 3 to verify the next Product recode/merge transaction and click OK.

2. The Start option allows you to start the Product recode/merge update. The update should run when no other processes are running. The recoding and merging of Product information affects many of the modules in Enterprise.

   Note: Running RM82 while other functions in the same module(s) are running may cause unpredictable damage to data. This damage might not be recoverable.

3. When the process is complete, the RM82 screen automatically closes.
