The Call Types (SE14) program is used to maintain different types of calls. Every Service Call entered in Enter Service Calls (SE30) must be assigned a Call Type code on the Dispatch folder. This code controls whether the call being entered is an Estimate only, a PM call type or any other type, and sets the default TAT code to be used when entering Parts Used.

The following describes every field on the Call Types panel:

  • Call Type - Enter or select from the query a call type code. You can enter a maximum of 2 characters. This is a mandatory field.

  • Call Type Description - Enter a maximum of 20 characters for the call type description. This is a mandatory field.

  • Call Category column - Enter or select from the query the call category column. The Call Category Column is used to categorize calls for the Technician Activity (SE50) report, which prints the number of calls performed by each technician broken down by Call Category. The system allows for 6 call categories to be maintained, the description for each category is user defined in Company Control Initialization (CC00)/Service/Repair except for Call Category 6 which is system-defined as being Other.

  • Default TAT Code - Enter or select from the query the TAT code that contains the appropriate flags for inventory sales analysis updates when products are entered on the Parts folder of SE30.

  • Estimate Only - Select this check box if the current Call Type is for estimates only.

  • Preventative Maintenance - Select this check box if the current Call Type is applies to preventative maintenance. When a Call Type with this check box selected is entered on the Dispatch folder of SE30 the PM folder becomes accessable.

The following table outlines the functionality of each button on the Call Types panel:

Update Update The Update button saves the information entered for the current record and clears all of the fields that do not contain defaults.
Delete Delete The Delete button deletes the current record.
New New The New button clears all of the fields that do not contain defaults without updating the current record.
