Operations

Individual resources are assigned up to 9 possible operations that are broken down into 2 categories:

  1. Query Operations:

    • Customize - allows the role to personalize the resource i.e. the Personalize button is available on the view.

    • Execute - allows the role to run the resource.

    • Export - allows the role to export records displayed in the Search Criteria grid to:
      • An Excel spread sheet.
      • Outlook appointments.
      • Outlook tasks.

      Note: Access to the 'Export to Outlook Contacts' and 'Export to Outlook Tasks' are not available on all views. Only resources setup by PointForce with the appropriate table attributes can access this functionality.

    • Read - allows the role to perform searches and queries.

    • Grant - allows the role to grant permissions for the current resource to other roles (users). The user who has Grant permission on a resource may grant only operations that he/she already has. Only the System Administrator owns all permissions to all resources.

  2. Modification Operations:

    • Create - allows the role to create new records i.e. access the Create action in certain views/resources.

    • Delete - allows the role to delete records.

    • Maintain List - allows the role to maintain records via the Edit with Excel and Update Field features.

    • Update - allows the role to overwrite an existing record with new information and to update the database.

Note: Group resources only require the 'execute' operation. Group resource names normally contain the phrase 'resources' or 'menu' but there may be some exceptions.

Individual resources require a minimum of the 'read' and 'execute' operations; all other operations can be added as required.
