Models

Packing Station is able to accommodate Sales Orders containing both Fixed and Variable Models. When processing Sales Orders with 'MO' as the product type, a modified set of rules apply during Packing Entry (PS30).

Here are the Rules that apply when packing Models:

  1. The Pack Qty Components field is not available when packing Models (both Variable and Fixed).

  2. You can pack both Variable and Fixed Models by the Components, but you cannot pack more than the Ship Quantity.

    • When packing by Components, the Pack will Close ONLY when the packed quantity of the components is consistent with the quantity ordered for the Model Header (and each component quantity corresponds to the Model set up in Model Maintenance (IM29)).

  3. You can pack Variable and Fixed Models by Components or by the Model Header. But you cannot pack both the Components and the Model Header for the same Model.

    • When packing by the Model Header, the Review folder displays the Model Header record with the correct Pack Qty (when the 'Issues Only' checkbox is not selected), and the Component Items are listed with a Pack Qty of 0. This is correct and there are no Issues associated with the packing of the Model on the Review folder. The Pack will close.

    • When packing by the Components, the Review folder displays the Component items with the appropriate Pack Qty, and the Model Header record does not appear in the list. This is correct and there are no Issues associated with the packing of the Model on the Review folder. The Pack will close.

  4. You can under ship (short ship) Fixed or Variable Model Header records.

  5. If any of the component lines are Short Shipped, the Pack will not close. The Model components must balance before the Pack can close.

  6. When packing the Components of a Model, you cannot scan or enter the Model Header. If you do, the following message displays: "Quantities from open stock at the Model/Set component level have already been entered. Scanning the Header level is not permitted."

  7. Over shipping is permitted only for Fixed Models. Over shipping a Variable Model is not permitted.

    • You can over ship PAST the order quantity on the Sales Order.

    • You can over ship at the Model Header level only.

    • All additional lines are added to the Sales Order as A-lines.

  8. You can only pack up to the Shippable quantity for components of both Fixed and Variable Models. If you try to pack the product again, the following message displays: "Product XXX does not exist on the Sales Order with a shippable quantity or is fully packed. Do you wish to add it?". If the line is added, it is added as regular product on an 'A' line and not as a Component item of the Model.
